Bo Nix, Broncos Host Seahawks on Thursday Night

Bo Nix gets the Thursday night stage he said he signed up for. The Denver Broncos quarterback hosts the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks tonight at Empower Field at Mile High, with kickoff at 6:15 p.m. MT (8:15 p.m. ET) on Prime Video.

Both clubs sit 3-2. Denver closes a five-game stretch against 2025 playoff teams. Seattle brings a road mark of 16-3 since the start of 2024 into a building where the Broncos are 16-3 at home over the same span. Something has to give under the lights.

Nix wants the juice

"There'll be some extra juice on both sides, and I think this is why you play the game," Nix said Tuesday. "This is why you want to be an NFL quarterback." He is 7-2 in prime-time games for his career. Sam Darnold has won all six of his prime-time starts since joining Seattle in 2025. Denver is chasing a third straight Thursday win and an 11th victory in its last 12 against NFC opponents, and the Broncos will wear throwbacks.

Seattle has scored at least 29 points in four consecutive games. Denver's defense has allowed 20.0 points per game over the last four weeks and has not let an opponent top 26 since Week 1. That is the strength-on-strength fight Sean Payton and Mike Macdonald both relish on short weeks.

Thinned secondary, short-week outs

Denver will be without All-Pro corner Patrick Surtain II and safety Talanoa Hufanga (both ankles). Corner Riley Moss is questionable with ribs after limited practice all week. Seattle is without running back Zach Charbonnet, linebacker Drake Thomas, and linebacker Chazz Surratt, while Jaxon Smith-Njigba practiced fully Wednesday with no game designation.

The Broncos forced seven turnovers through five weeks and scored 13 points off three takeaways in the Week 5 win over the Chargers. Seattle has turned it over eight times in the last three weeks, including five Darnold interceptions. Protecting the ball and winning the fourth quarter are Denver's stated paths. The Broncos are 8-3 since the start of 2025 when trailing in the fourth, and they have scored 52 fourth-quarter points this season, second in the NFL.

Mile High on Prime

Thursday Night Football in altitude against the champs is the measuring stick Nix asked for. Denver's offense has to finish drives without the mistakes that make Seattle's opportunistic defense look inevitable. Seahawks fans trust Darnold and a top-ranked defense on the road. Broncos fans trust Nix in the moments that decide one-score games. Kickoff is tonight at Mile High. The only stats that matter after that are the ones on the final scoreboard.
