Bryce Young Hits Tremble Twice, Panthers Top Eagles
By Smacktok
•

Bryce Young found Tommy Tremble for a 19-yard touchdown with 6:34 left, the second time the two connected for a score on Sunday, and that put away a 25-14 Carolina Panthers win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Philadelphia. Carolina needed only 48 yards on the drive after a short Eagles punt.
The Panthers improve to 3-2 coming off their bye. Philadelphia, playing without Jalen Hurts and its top three running backs, including Saquon Barkley, falls to 2-4 with its first four-game losing streak of the Nick Sirianni era.
Bryce Young Keeps the Chains Moving
Young finished 20 of 39 for 281 yards and two touchdowns, both to Tremble, including a 12-yarder in the second quarter for a 10-0 lead. It was not always smooth, but he is now the first quarterback since Peyton Manning and Drew Brees in 2013 to throw for 280-plus yards and a touchdown in each of his team's first five games of a season, per NFL.com.
Ryan Fitzgerald hit field goals of 47 and 52 yards, the second on the opening possession of the third quarter for a 13-7 lead.
Chuba Hubbard Grinds It Out
Chuba Hubbard did the heavy lifting with 28 carries for 120 yards and a 1-yard touchdown that capped a 92-yard drive early in the fourth quarter. His 19-yard run on a fourth-and-1 in the third kept Carolina moving. For fantasy, that is the kind of workload you want from your RB.
The defense did the rest. Carolina held Philadelphia to 222 total yards and just 35 on the ground, and sacked Tanner McKee three times. Bobby Okereke generated five pressures, and Zakee Wheatley broke up a fourth-down deep ball to DeVonta Smith late. McKee, in his season debut, went 26 of 45 for 215 yards with a 19-yard touchdown to Smith, and Dameon Pierce ran one in from 2 yards before halftime.
Not Pretty, Still a Win
It was far from clean. The Panthers were flagged 13 times for 149 yards, which Dave Canales called "outrageous," and three good returns were wiped out by penalties in the first half. Rookie cornerback Will Lee III drew two pass interference flags, the second leading directly to the Eagles touchdown before the break.
Carolina also lost outside linebacker Thomas Incoom to a calf injury in the second quarter, while Jaelan Phillips left in the first quarter and returned in a limited role after halftime.
Tampa Bay comes to Charlotte next Sunday at 1-5. Take care of business there, and Carolina will be sitting at 4-2 with Young playing like a franchise quarterback.
