Jets Waive Cade York, Sanders Wins Job

Cade York is off the Jets roster. New York waived the kicker on Tuesday before the last practice of training camp and handed the job to Jason Sanders, the Associated Press reported. Special teams coordinator Chris Banjo said it out loud: "He has won the job." The club also waived running back Sam Scott with an injury settlement, the Jets posted at 4:25 p.m. The 53-man deadline is still Sunday, Aug. 30, at 6 p.m. ET. This one did not wait for Sunday.

York signed March 13 as the replacement for Nick Folk, who left for Atlanta after tying the NFL lead at 96.6 percent on field goals last season, AP wrote. Sanders was claimed off waivers from the Giants in June. Banjo said York "did a great job" through camp and the two preseason games.
