Deebo Samuel Out as 49ers Host Raiders
By Smacktok
•

Deebo Samuel is out for the San Francisco 49ers' Week 9 home game against the Las Vegas Raiders with a hamstring injury, per Friday's NFL.com injury roundup. Wide receiver Christian Kirk is also out after a meniscus injury, and Mike Evans (ribs/Achilles) remains out. Christian McCaffrey is off the injury report and cleared to face Las Vegas at Levi's Stadium on Sunday (4:25 p.m. ET, FOX).
San Francisco's receiver room is thin for a home November game. Samuel's designation closes another skill option after Kirk's knee update and Evans staying sidelined. McCaffrey coming off the report is the counterweight that keeps the offense from going empty.
Hamstring Closes Deebo's Week
Friday's roundup listed Samuel out with no wiggle room. Kirk is out as well while the team sorts whether the meniscus needs surgery, head coach Kyle Shanahan said. Demarcus Robinson (ankle) is questionable. The 49ers still expect Nick Bosa available after he carried no designation.
That is a lot of missing volume outside. Evans and Kirk already forced the offense to lean elsewhere. Samuel joining them on the out list makes Sunday a different script for whoever is throwing.
McCaffrey Cleared, Targets Shift
McCaffrey off the report is the clearest positive on the Friday sheet. With Samuel, Kirk, and Evans all out, San Francisco's early-down and checkdown plan runs through the back who just got a clean designation. Demarcus Robinson's ankle is the one remaining receiver contingency worth watching into Sunday.
Las Vegas arrives without Thomas Booker (ankle), with Darien Porter questionable. The Raiders are the road team at Levi's. San Francisco still owns home field and a defense that can shorten the afternoon if the pass game is missing three featured names.
Shanahan has been managing this receiver shortfall for weeks, and Sunday is the fullest version of it with Samuel joining Evans and Kirk on the inactive list while McCaffrey gets a clean board.
Levi's Without the WR Depth
Raiders at 49ers with Samuel already ruled out is still a home favorite shape if McCaffrey handles the touches. The missing receivers just put more of the early script on the run game and whatever Robinson can give if he is active.
Smacktok pick lean: Lean higher on Christian McCaffrey rush and receptions with Samuel, Kirk, and Evans already ruled out. Lean Demarcus Robinson targets IF he is active; if Robinson is a late scratch, do not force the wideout play.
Samuel out, Kirk out, Evans out, McCaffrey cleared. That is San Francisco's Week 9 board.
