Detroit Lions cornerback D.J. Reed is active and expected to start Thursday night against the Buffalo Bills after spending the week listed as questionable with a foot injury. Lions.com's Tim Twentyman reported the good news from Orchard Park as Detroit posted its official Week 2 inactives.

Reed was limited Tuesday and Wednesday after landing on the injury report with the foot tag. Facing Josh Allen without your top corner would have been a nightmare. Instead Reed gets the green light, and Detroit keeps its preferred look on the outside against Buffalo's deep shots.

What Detroit is missing up front

Right tackle Blake Miller and left guard Christian Mahogany are both OUT, so Detroit is expected to start veterans Larry Borom at tackle and Ben Bartch at guard. The Lions elevated tackle Devin Cochran and center Seth McLaughlin from the practice squad for depth, and they signed defensive lineman Levi Onwuzurike from the practice squad to the active roster.

Also active in the secondary is defensive back Christian Izien, who missed Week 1 with a groin injury and could see nickel snaps. With Izien up, rookie corner Keith Abney II is inactive. Ennis Rakestraw Jr. joins him on the inactive list along with linebacker Jimmy Rolder, defensive lineman Mekhi Wingo, and edge rusher Ahmed Hassanein.

Kickoff is 8:15 p.m. ET on Prime at Highmark Stadium. Reed's availability is the cleanest secondary news Detroit could get after a short week. Allen lit up Houston for six completions of 30-plus yards in Week 1. Fantasy managers who worried Reed would sit can lock him back into CB and defensive back slots and watch how Borom and Bartch hold up on the edges.

Foot cleared. Reed starts. Detroit's secondary keeps its preferred Week 2 look in Buffalo.
