Egbuka Full Go for Week 1 vs Bengals

Todd Bowles said Emeka Egbuka is "full go" for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Week 1 opener at the Cincinnati Bengals, and the second-year wide receiver carries no injury designation. Egbuka sprained his toe in mid-August joint practices with the Jets, then practiced fully Wednesday through Friday.

That is the clearance fantasy rooms wanted before Sunday's road kickoff. Mike Evans is now with the 49ers, so Egbuka steps into the featured wideout role opposite Chris Godwin Jr. with Tez Johnson and others in the mix.

Toe sprain, full week, blank sheet

The toe kept Egbuka out of practice until this week. Once he returned, he took every rep Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. CBS Sports and Jenna Laine both relayed Bowles' "full go" language. NBC Sports already had him trending toward a clean Week 1 stamp after the midweek full sessions, calling the Bengals matchup a juicy spot for a featured receiver.

As a rookie in 2025 he posted 63 catches for 938 yards and 6 touchdowns on 127 targets across 17 games. That production came while injuries shuffled Tampa Bay's receiving room. With Evans gone, Baker Mayfield's first read tree still has Godwin looking like himself in camp, but Egbuka is the name Bowles cleared without a tag.

McMillan, Tucker doubtful; Bengals road

Bowles listed fellow starter Jalen McMillan (knee) and running back Sean Tucker (hamstring) as doubtful. McMillan worked limited this week after an early-August knee issue. Tucker hurt the hamstring in the final preseason game. Godwin, Tez Johnson, Kameron Johnson, and rookie Ted Hurst III fill the depth chart behind Egbuka, and Bowles praised Hurst for soaking up mental reps while the veterans were sidelined.

Cincinnati at home in Week 1 is a real test and a real fantasy ceiling. Bucs fans get the best possible Friday answer on the toe. Bengals fans get a healthy Egbuka instead of a limited one. Start him with confidence if your board needs a WR2 who just cleared every practice and the designation list. Mayfield already called Godwin as good as he has seen him in camp, which only raises the odds that this offense wants to throw early and often in Cincinnati.

Week 1 clearance stories rarely come this clean. Egbuka practiced fully, Bowles said full go, and the injury report left him blank. That is as Stage-4 as a toe timeline gets.
