Emmanwori Does More Monday Ahead of Pats
By Smacktok
•

Nick Emmanwori still practiced limited Monday, but Mike Macdonald said the second-year safety did more than he had previously as Seattle opened the next chapter of Week 1 prep for the New England Patriots. Emmanwori is working back from ankle surgery and a PUP stint. The Monday bump matters on a short week even if the participation line stayed limited.
Starting safety Ty Okada (hamstring) was again a non-participant. That is the continuity from Sunday's report, not a new crisis invented for Monday. The Seahawks are thin at safety on the 53 with Julian Love and Emmanwori the other names, which is why the practice-squad depth chart keeps getting airtime. For the earlier Okada DNP framing, see our Okada Week 1 injury note.
Practice-squad safety options
If Okada and/or Emmanwori are unavailable Wednesday, Seattle has Rodney Thomas II, D'Anthony Bell, AJ Finley, and Maxen Hook on the practice squad. Macdonald said everybody who has practiced through camp is in a place where the staff feels they could contribute. Defensive coordinator Aden Durde had already praised that group's readiness Sunday when asked about the safety depth.
That is the real Monday story under the Emmanwori upgrade language: progress for the ankle case, still no Okada, and a clear call sheet if either (or both) cannot go. The Seahawks are not pretending the 53 is stacked at the position. They are pointing at names who have already been in the building.
Emmanwori was the No. 35 overall pick a year ago and a Defensive Rookie of the Year finalist. The ankle surgery before camp forced a measured ramp. Macdonald's Monday note is not a clearance. It is progress language on a player who was limited Sunday and limited again Monday, just with more actual work mixed in. That distinction is what separates this update from a simple rehash of the Okada DNP report.
Horton, Jones limited; Bradford full
Also limited Monday: receiver Tory Horton (hamstring) and tackle Josh Jones (knee). Right guard Anthony Bradford (knee) was upgraded from limited Sunday to full Monday. Full participants also included AJ Barner (oblique), Julian Neal (quadricep), and Emanuel Wilson (hamstring). Across the ball, New England's Christian Barmore went full after a Sunday DNP while Ben Brown and TreVeyon Henderson stayed out.
Wednesday night at Lumen Field still needs final designations. Monday's fresh angle is Emmanwori doing more work while remaining limited, Okada still stuck on the sideline, and Bradford's upgrade giving the interior line a cleaner look before the Patriots arrive.
