Mitchell HR Sends Brewers to First WS Since 1982

Garrett Mitchell's go-ahead solo home run sent the Milwaukee Brewers to their first World Series since 1982. Milwaukee finished a National League Championship Series sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 6-4 win in Game 4 on Oct. 15 at Dodger Stadium, flipping last year's script and ending a 44-year pennant wait.
The Brewers trailed 4-0 after two innings. Shohei Ohtani's three-run homer helped build that early lead. Then Milwaukee started climbing, and Mitchell finished the climb in front of 49,104 at Chavez Ravine.
Four-run hole, then the swing
William Contreras and Jake Bauers doubled in the fourth to start the comeback. In the fifth, David Hamilton's RBI single and Bauers' bases-loaded walk tied the game. Mitchell then took Tanner Scott deep in the sixth for a solo shot that left the bat at 105.2 mph and traveled 409 feet, per NBC Sports. Hamilton added an insurance homer in the ninth.
JoJo Romero earned the win. Scott took the loss. Aaron Ashby closed it for the save. Bauers was named NLCS MVP by MLB.com after a series that kept producing big at-bats when Milwaukee needed them most. The four-run comeback tied the largest deficit overcome to clinch an LCS in MLB history, the kind of October math Brewers fans will recite for decades.
Every inning after the 4-0 hole felt like a different game. Contreras and Bauers put the first dents in the deficit. Hamilton and Bauers finished the tie. Mitchell's sixth-inning blast flipped the lead for good. Hamilton's ninth-inning homer was the exclamation point Ashby protected.
Sweep that reverses 2025
Los Angeles swept Milwaukee in the 2025 NLCS. One year later, the Brewers ran the table 4-0 and punched the first World Series ticket this franchise has held since 1982. For Brewers fans who sat through last October's wipeout in this same building, Game 4 was the rematch that finally stuck.
Mitchell's blast was the night's signature. Bauers' series-long grind earned the MVP hardware. Hamilton and Contreras kept the lineup moving when the early deficit looked ugly. The bullpen finished what the bats started. Dodgers fans who expected another October coronation instead watched a four-run lead vanish and a pennant leave town.
That reverse sweep is the rarest kind of revenge story. Same opponent. Same round. Opposite ending. Milwaukee did not need a seven-game epic. It needed four straight wins, and it got them.
Pennant, finally
Forty-four years is a long time to wait for October champagne that actually means a pennant. Milwaukee is World Series-bound. The Dodgers' three-peat chase ends in a sweep. Brewers fans can say it without hedging now: the National League champions play out of Milwaukee again.
Mitchell will be the face on the highlight loops. Bauers will be the name on the MVP trophy. The whole roster owns the 6-4 Game 4 that closed the deal. For a fan base that lived the 1982 memories through parents and highlight tapes, this one is live, loud, and finally theirs.
