Jayden Daniels, Commanders Hand Eagles Sixth Straight Loss

Jayden Daniels hit Stefon Diggs for an 8-yard touchdown in the second quarter to tie it at 10, and the Washington Commanders never trailed again. Daniels threw for 217 yards and a score as Washington scored 27 straight points to beat the Philadelphia Eagles 27-10 on Sunday night at Northwest Stadium, the AP reported.

This one meant a lot on both sidelines. It was Daniels' first win as a starter since Oct. 5, 2025, and Washington's first win in more than a month, lifting the Commanders to 2-4-1 and two games back of the first-place Giants in the NFC East. The Eagles have now lost six straight, sit at 2-6 and are in last place in the division.

A Brutal First Quarter, Then Nothing But Washington

Coming off the bye, the Commanders looked rusty early. They piled up first-quarter penalties, Drew Stevens missed a 55-yard field goal and Chig Okonkwo lost a fumble. Saquon Barkley punched in a 3-yard touchdown run and Philadelphia was up 10-0.

"When you come off of a bye, you either rev right up or you need a minute to warm up, and we took a minute," Dan Quinn said after the game.

Once Washington found its footing, the game flipped. Stevens bounced back with four field goals, including a 56-yarder late in the first quarter, and the Commanders took a 13-10 lead into halftime. Daniels took a hard hit on the final drive of the half and was slow to get up, but he stayed in. Without Terry McLaurin, he spread it around: Treylon Burks had 81 yards on three catches and Antonio Williams led the team with five grabs on seven targets.

"It's a blessing from God just to go out there, and everything I've been through in my career so far," Daniels said. "From different injuries and a lot of different setbacks."

The Eagles Offense Is Stuck

The Washington defense pitched a shutout for the final three-plus quarters. It sacked Tanner McKee five times, picked him off once and held Philadelphia to 268 total yards, only 199 before a meaningless final drive. McKee, making his third start in place of the injured Jalen Hurts, threw for 212 yards and no touchdowns.

Barkley scored, but he was held to 30 yards on 13 carries and the Eagles managed just 91 rushing yards as a team. The Eagles also had a chance to cut it to three in the fourth quarter. Jake Elliott made a field goal, but an illegal formation penalty wiped it out and he missed the retry from 41 yards.

"Are teams taking shots at us? Yeah," Barkley said. "We're not the big bad Eagles anymore."

Nick Sirianni didn't sugarcoat it either. "I know nobody feels sorry for us, that's for damn sure," he said. "Obviously, it sucks."

Injuries, Up Next and the Smacktok Lean

Eagles safety Michael Carter suffered an abdominal injury, and Commanders running back Jeremy McNichols limped to the locker room in the second half with a left foot injury.

Up next, the Eagles host the Giants and the Commanders host the Rams, both on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 10 AM PT.

Our Smacktok lean: with McLaurin out, Antonio Williams led Washington with seven targets, so we'd lean higher on his receptions against the Rams if McLaurin sits again.
