Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was listed as a limited participant Wednesday with back tightness and told reporters after practice that the soreness should not keep him from playing Sunday at the Houston Texans. Bengals.com senior writer Geoff Hobson logged the quotes and the injury report stamp: light throwing in individuals, mental reps, no alarm bells at Paycor.

Burrow called it "back tightness" and "normal game day soreness." He said he did not feel it until after Sunday's win over Tampa Bay and that he is not interested in sitting as a precaution. "That's ridiculous," Burrow said. "I feel good. Some normal game day soreness, that's for sure. But I'll be all right. I'll do what it takes to be out there. If I'm not having surgery, I'll be out there."

Mental reps and the Week 2 plan

Burrow said he is not sure how much he will work Thursday and is comfortable taking mental reps. "You're not dropping back full-speed and throwing it, but you're still figuring out where the ball goes," he said. "Calling the play, getting in and out of huddles. So we'll be ready to go." Zac Taylor has not second-guessed Burrow's willingness to use his legs when the moment calls for it.

Fantasy managers should keep Burrow in lineups until a Friday designation says otherwise. Limited midweek with a quarterback saying he expects to play is usually noise, not a pivot. Still check Thursday's report in case the club dials him back further.

Texans at 1 p.m. ET Sunday

Cincinnati visits Houston on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 1 p.m. ET. Burrow framed it as an early AFC measuring-stick game against a club that has made the playoffs three straight years. A healthy Burrow changes everything about how the Bengals can attack Derek Stingley Jr. and Houston's front. A late scratch would flip that board overnight.

The sourced stamp is back tightness, limited Wednesday, expects to play, mental-reps plan, Texans next. No invented grade. No invented inactive. Just Burrow's own words and the club report.

Tightness, not panic. He expects to play in Houston, and the club report has not contradicted that yet.

Cincinnati's offensive identity still runs through Burrow. A limited Wednesday with a confident post-practice quote is the kind of midweek noise that usually settles by Friday. Still, soft tissue and backs can surprise. Check the Thursday report before you treat this as fully closed.

Limited Wednesday. Sunday still on his calendar.
