Jordan Love Packers OT Win vs Jets

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love helped erase a 10-point fourth-quarter hole, then set up rookie kicker Trey Smack's 26-yard overtime field goal in a 20-17 win over the New York Jets on Sunday at MetLife Stadium. It was Green Bay's first win since Dec. 7 of last year and snapped a six-game losing streak.

The Packers trailed 17-7 after a MarShawn Lloyd fumble led to a Jets field goal with 11:04 left. Christian Watson caught a 3-yard touchdown on a 73-yard drive. Skyy Moore ripped a 63-yard punt return that set up the tying kick. Lukas Van Ness helped force overtime with a fourth-down stop near midfield.

In OT the Jets won the toss and still lost 15 yards on back-to-back sacks of Geno Smith. Love hit Chris Brooks for 15 yards, drew more free yards on a roughness flag, and Smack finished it with 5:23 left in the extra period. Green Bay finished with only 199 total yards, went 1-for-9 on third down, and took 14 penalties for 133 yards. The late script still flipped.

Fantasy rooms that held Love through the skid just got a messy win. Watson's touchdown keeps him in the weekly conversation. Do not invent a 300-yard Love line from 199 team yards. Do bank the comeback and the short week ahead. Green Bay hosts Atlanta on Thursday night.

Matthew Golden's 18-yard catch on third down was Green Bay's only conversion in that department, and it mattered on the Watson scoring drive. Moore's return flipped field position when the offense still looked stuck. Van Ness and company sacked Smith twice to open overtime. Love then stacked two throws for 29 yards and handed Smack a chip shot. Ugly box score. Clean result.

How the Jets almost held on

Geno Smith threw a 5-yard touchdown to Garrett Wilson for his first Jets passing score since 2016. Braelon Allen punched in an equalizer before that. Harrison Phillips recovered a fourth-quarter fumble that briefly made it a 10-point Jets lead. New York still turned it over on downs late in regulation when Allen was short on fourth-and-1.

Love did not light the box score. He hit the throws that mattered once Moore and the defense bought him a second life. That is enough for 1-1 and a Thursday rematch with an 0-2 Falcons club.
