Josh Allen Leads Bills Past Rams 37-34 in OT

Josh Allen finally got his overtime win. The Buffalo Bills quarterback piled up 331 total yards and two touchdowns, Tyler Bass drilled a 45-yard field goal with 1:55 left in overtime, and Buffalo outlasted the Los Angeles Rams 37-34 on Monday night at SoFi Stadium.
It was Allen's first career overtime victory after seven prior OT losses, and it put the Bills at 4-1 for the first time under rookie head coach Joe Brady. Matthew Stafford threw for 383 yards and three scores, and Puka Nacua piled up a career-high 17 catches, but special teams decided it when Greg Rousseau got a hand on Harrison Mevis' kick.
Rousseau blocks, Bass finishes
Buffalo looked cooked early in overtime. James Cook, who had already rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns, fumbled deep in Rams territory. Aaron Donald recovered after Nate Landman punched the ball free, and Stafford drove Los Angeles to the Buffalo 30.
Sean McVay then called a conservative third-down play instead of going for it, and Mevis' attempt never had a chance. Rousseau got a piece of it, Allen scrambled for 19 and 13 yards on the next drive, and Brady trusted Bass from 45 with nearly two minutes still on the clock. Bass crushed it and took off celebrating before the officials even signaled good.
"That's the beautiful thing about football: You get another drive," Allen said afterward, per the AP. "You're hoping someone on defense or special teams can make a play, and that's what happened. Greg Rousseau made a play."
Six lead changes and a wild finish
The fourth quarter was chaos. Davante Adams' second touchdown catch gave the Rams the lead with 7:14 left. Allen answered with a 71-yard drive that included two scrambles through Los Angeles' secondary, and Cook punched in the go-ahead score with 1:39 remaining.
Stafford then completed six of seven throws down to the Buffalo 1. The Rams skipped a timeout so Kyren Williams could slam it in with four seconds left and force overtime. That capped six consecutive lead changes in a game that felt like a rematch of their 44-42 December 2024 shootout.
Allen finished 210 passing and 121 rushing. Keon Coleman caught his only touchdown pass. Buffalo's ground game totaled 234 yards, and Allen kept saying the scrambles were there when coverage locked down the receivers.
Rams sink to 2-3
Los Angeles is under .500 after five games for the fourth time in five seasons. McVay ripped the kicking unit afterward and owned the conservative call before the blocked kick. Nacua's 138 yards and a score were not enough, and Adams tied Larry Fitzgerald for the sixth-most receiving touchdowns in NFL history at 121.
The Bills host the Raiders next. The Rams host Arizona. For Buffalo fans who have watched Allen lose every OT until now, Monday night finally flipped the script.
