Justin Jefferson Active vs Saints, Addison Inactive
By Smacktok
•

Justin Jefferson is playing. The Vikings star is active for Sunday's game against the Saints at Caesars Superdome after a pregame test on his sprained ankle, while fellow receiver Jordan Addison is inactive with a hamstring injury, per Vikings.com.
That is a big swing for Minnesota. The Vikings came into Week 5 as one of only three undefeated teams in the league, per theScore, and they get their best player back for a road game in the city where Jefferson grew up. He went to LSU just up the road in Baton Rouge, and the team is calling this one his homecoming.
Justin Jefferson ankle update
Jefferson hurt his left ankle in the Week 3 win at Tampa Bay and sat out last Sunday against the Dolphins, per RotoWire. He was limited in all three practices this week and went into the weekend listed as questionable, so this was a true game-time call.
When he has been on the field, he has been Jefferson. He has caught 13 of 17 targets for 179 yards and two touchdowns this season, per theScore. With Addison out, he should be the clear No. 1 option for Kyler Murray, even if the Vikings keep an eye on his workload.
Fantasy managers who were sweating the 1 p.m. ET lock can breathe. Start him and hope the ankle holds up.
Addison and Beckham both sit
Addison missed Wednesday's practice and was limited in the final two sessions of the week, per theScore. The Vikings also made Odell Beckham Jr. inactive. Minnesota elevated him from the practice squad on Saturday as insurance with both Jefferson and Addison questionable, per Vikings.com, but with Jefferson cleared there was no need for him.
The rest of the Vikings inactives are safety Jakobe Thomas, quarterback Max Brosmer (emergency third QB), cornerback Chuck Demmings (hamstring), tackle Christian Darrisaw (concussion protocol) and defensive lineman Elijah Williams. Losing Darrisaw is the other one to watch, because Murray will be working behind a patched-up left side against a Saints pass rush playing at home.
Who is out for New Orleans
The Saints will be without linebacker Kaden Elliss and edge rusher Anfernee Jennings, per Vikings.com. Safety Mike Reid, guard Jeremiah Wright and defensive linemen Vernon Broughton and Nathan Shepherd are also inactive, with Zach Wilson dressing as the emergency third quarterback behind Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler.
Missing Elliss and Jennings takes two veterans off a defense that now has to deal with Jefferson. Minnesota wants to stay perfect, and with No. 18 back on the field in front of his hometown crowd, the Vikings have every reason to think they can leave New Orleans still unbeaten.
