Klay Thompson OT Winner Caps Heat Rally Past Clippers
By Smacktok

Klay Thompson hit a corner three with one second left in overtime, and the Miami Heat finished a 20-point comeback to beat the Los Angeles Clippers 117-116 on Wednesday night at Intuit Dome. Thompson finished with 30 points, his first 30-point night since April 2024 when he was still with Golden State.
Bam Adebayo led Miami with 35 points and 10 rebounds and set the screen that freed Thompson for the winner. The Heat needed every bit of both lines after digging a huge early hole on the road.
The Shot
Down two in overtime, Thompson rose from the corner after Adebayo's baseline screen and drained it. "I can't lie to you, felt really good," Thompson said. Coach Erik Spoelstra pointed straight at the screen. "[Thompson] had great timing on that, and then Bam had one heck of a screen," Spoelstra said. "It was fitting to be able to finish the game that way."
Adebayo did not duck the credit either. "Screeners don't usually get a lot of credit, but that's probably my best screen, for sure," he said. "I just had to make sure I got him open. The guy is one of the greatest shooters in league history."
From 20 Down to OT
Miami erased a 20-point deficit before forcing overtime, then won it on the final look. Thompson's conditioning has been a talking point in his first Heat season, and both he and Spoelstra framed Wednesday as proof the extra work is landing. "I feel amazing. I haven't felt this good in a long time," Thompson said. "No pain in my lower limbs, and I'm so grateful to be here."
Adebayo's 35 and 10 were season highs. The Clippers had controlled large stretches at home before the rally flipped the night.
Next Up: The Bay
Miami's next stop is a trip to Chase Center to face Thompson's former team, the Golden State Warriors. That is a different kind of stage for a shooter who just reminded everybody what the last look looks like when it goes in.
For a Heat team still sorting its rotation identity, nights like this matter more than the standings line. Thompson is not just a spot-up option anymore when the last possession is his, and Adebayo just showed again that the dirty work creates the highlight.
Smacktok pick lean: Lean higher on Thompson's threes against Golden State. He just knocked down the biggest one of his Heat tenure and said he has not felt this healthy in years.
A 20-point comeback ending on a Klay corner three is the kind of night Miami signed him for.
