McConkey Second Straight DNP With Ribs
By Smacktok

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey did not practice Thursday with a rib injury for the second straight day, leaving his Week 2 status against the Las Vegas Raiders in real doubt. CBS Sports RotoWire logged him as a non-participant on the Thursday injury report after he was spotted working separately with the training staff during the media window.
Head coach Jim Harbaugh tagged McConkey day-to-day earlier in the week. Two DNPs in a row are not the trend you want on a short turnaround into a home Sunday. If he sits again Friday, he will be hard-pressed to suit up against the Raiders at 4:05 p.m. ET.
What the Thursday sheet means
McConkey worked on the side but did not join team drills. That is progress only in the sense that he was on the field with trainers. It is not a limited stamp, and it is not a full practice. Fantasy managers who locked him as a WR1 need Friday's report before setting lineups. A second miss pushes more targets toward Quentin Johnston, Tre Harris, and Derius Davis with Justin Herbert.
Nobody has stamped a fracture or a multi-week absence in the Thursday notes. The board is still ribs and day-to-day. The next public call is Friday's practice participation and any game designation that follows.
Raiders at SoFi on Sunday
Los Angeles hosts Las Vegas on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 4:05 p.m. ET. A McConkey absence would change how Mike McDaniel scripts early downs and how Las Vegas shades the slot. If he is limited Friday and listed questionable, the inactive call may wait until Sunday morning. If he is ruled out Friday afternoon, the Chargers get a full day to rebuild the receiver plan.
Second straight DNP. Ribs still loud. Friday in El Segundo decides Raiders week.
