Eagles Put Landon Dickerson on IR

The Philadelphia Eagles are placing three-time Pro Bowl left guard Landon Dickerson on injured reserve with a right knee bone bruise, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter, meaning he will miss at least the next four games. Dickerson confirmed the plan on WIP's Players Lounge Show after imaging Monday, saying he was a "complete liability" in Sunday's 24-22 win over the Washington Commanders.

He got rolled up in a training camp practice a few weeks ago, tried to play through it, and finally got clarity on the bone bruise. "I should not be out there until I feel healthy," he said. The IR move is about finishing the season healthy instead of limping through another ugly stretch like last year after his August 2025 meniscus surgery.

What four games means on the calendar

An IR stint requires at least four missed games. That knocks Dickerson out of Week 2 at the Titans on Sunday, Sept. 20 (1 p.m. ET), and the next three after that. The earliest realistic return window discussed around the club points toward mid-October, including eligibility around the Oct. 18 date versus the Panthers if the four-game clock and practice progress line up.

Fifth-round pick Drew Kendall is the leading candidate to fill left guard, per NBC Sports Philadelphia and Pro Football Talk. Nick Sirianni's offensive line already leaned on continuity. Losing a three-time Pro Bowler after one week is a different problem than a midseason tweak.

Dickerson stressed the injury is unrelated to last season's meniscus issues and that he had felt great in camp until the roll-up. Stem cell work in Columbia helped the offseason, but Week 1 mobility and pressures told a different story on tape.

Philadelphia heads to Nashville next. Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts still set the tone, but interior protection and run fits change when the left guard is a young fill-in. Eagles fans who watched Dickerson gut through 2025 know why he asked for IR now. Rest the knee. Skip the weekly liability. Aim for the back half of the schedule instead of another limp through December.

Philadelphia already survived a physical Week 1 against Washington. Doing it again on the road without Dickerson's mass in the A-gap is a different ask for the run game and for Hurts on early downs. Opponents will test Kendall immediately.
