Lindor Homers as Mets Survive 15-14

Christopher Morel went 3-for-4 with three RBIs against his former team, including a 405-foot homer in the third for his first long ball of the season after Miami released him in June. The bottom three in New York's order (A.J. Ewing, Brett Baty/Morel, and Luis Torrens) combined to go 10-for-14 with 10 RBIs. Baty left in the second with left knee pain, which is how Morel entered as a pinch runner and never left the spotlight.

Miami erased the 8-0 hole with three in the fourth and five in the sixth, tying it on Owen Caissie's homer, Griffin Conine's single, Otto Lopez's walk, and Jakob Marsee's two-run single. The Mets answered with six in the seventh, capped by Lindor's three-run shot. Joe Mack went 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs for the Marlins. Marsee finished 4-for-6 with three RBIs.

Sweep locked, bullpen survives

Trailing 15-11 in the ninth, Miami still scratched across three more runs on Conine's double, Lopez's triple, and Marsee's single. Myers, New York's sixth reliever, struck out Caissie and got Pauley on a popout. Daniel Duarte (2-0) took the win. Josh Ekness (1-3) took the loss. The Mets sit at 68-78 with four straight wins. Miami (72-75) has dropped six of seven.

For Mets fans, this was the messy sequel to the earlier Miami series chapter we covered when Soto and Lindor went deep. Lindor again supplied the middle-of-the-order punch when the lead evaporated.
