Logan Stankoven just loves seeing the Vancouver Canucks. The Carolina Hurricanes forward scored twice and added an assist in a 6-3 win in Vancouver on Tuesday night, and the defending Stanley Cup champions moved into the NHL points lead at 8-2-1.

Nikolaj Ehlers also scored twice and had an assist, per The Associated Press, and Nicolas Deslauriers added two goals of his own. The Canucks lost their eighth straight game and fell to 2-8-1.

Logan Stankoven's Vancouver habit

This was the second time the two teams met this month. On Oct. 8 in Raleigh, Stankoven had a natural hat trick in a 7-2 win over Vancouver, the first three-goal game of his career, per AP. Add Tuesday's two goals and he now has five against the Canucks this season. The ESPN box score lists six goals total for him in 2026-27.

He got this one going early, scoring at 4:44 of the first period with assists from Jackson Blake and Juuso Valimaki. Ehlers made it 2-1 later in the first, and Stankoven closed the scoring at 17:57 of the third, with Ehlers and Blake on the assists.

If you are a Canes fan, you are circling the next Vancouver date already.

A night for the depth too

Deslauriers is not usually the name on the scoresheet, but he scored in the second period and again early in the third. Blake finished with three assists, and Pyotr Kochetkov stopped 14 shots as Carolina bounced back from a 3-2 loss at Calgary on Sunday.

The Hurricanes kept coming all night. Carolina put 43 shots on goal, per the ESPN box score, and it could have been worse for the Canucks without their goalie.

When Deslauriers is scoring twice on the road, Canes fans know the whole lineup is rolling.

Merilainen kept it from getting ugly

Leevi Merilainen made 38 saves for Vancouver, and AP called him the bright spot. He also stopped Sebastian Aho on a penalty shot in the second period, awarded after Canucks center Elias Pettersson was caught throwing his stick.

Linus Karlsson, Jonathan Lekkerimaki and Max Sasson scored for Vancouver. Canucks fans got a competitive first period, tied 2-2 after Lekkerimaki scored with two seconds left, and then watched Carolina pull away.

What's next

The Hurricanes play at Edmonton on Thursday night and at St. Louis on Saturday. The Canucks host Detroit on Thursday night.

Stankoven had a goal, an assist and nearly four minutes of power play time on Tuesday, so he is a strong start in Edmonton on Thursday, and Blake is worth a look after three assists while he keeps feeding that line.
