Pittman Limited Again at Steelers Practice

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. was listed as a limited participant Wednesday with a foot injury, per NBC Sports, after he and cornerback Joey Porter Jr. both missed the Week 2 loss to the New England Patriots. Porter was limited for conditioning only. Neither player took the field Sunday. Wednesday's board is the first midweek checkpoint on whether Pittman can work back for Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals at home.

That Wednesday look is the board. Soft fantasy note only: treat Pittman as a wait-and-see into Friday, not a locked WR1 stamp after one limited session. The Steelers already lived a quiet Week 2 without him. Another limited day does not end the week, but it does keep the target tree thin until he logs real team periods.

Steelers fans wanted Pittman healthy after the trade-and-settle stretch that put him in black and gold. A foot that already cost Week 2 does not clear itself because Wednesday was labeled limited instead of DNP. Friday's snaps are the next real tell.

Porter's conditioning limit is a separate track. He missed camp and Week 1 with a back issue, left a Thursday practice early last week, and now shows up limited without the back listed as the reason. Coverage depth still hinges on whether he can finish the week clean.

Pittsburgh also had Jamel Dean (ankle), Rico Dowdle (toe), Cole Holcomb (personal), and Jalen Ramsey (rest) out of practice, with Jaylen Warren limited for a shoulder. The Pittman foot is the skill-board story that changes how the Bengals week is drawn up if it stalls again Friday.

A Bengals week at home is supposed to be a chance to get the offense right. Without a healthy Pittman, the Steelers lean on whoever earned the routes in his place and hope the foot responds by Friday. One limited Wednesday is progress from a full miss. It is not proof he will finish Sunday as a feature piece.

Foot injuries linger when you rush them. Pittsburgh already paid for that once this month. Another patient day is smarter than a forced full session that costs Sunday.

Receiver board

Pittman: foot. Limited Wednesday. Missed Week 2. Friday next.

Porter Jr: conditioning. Limited. Separate from the foot story.

Steelers need Pittman catching team periods before anyone locks him into a full Week 3 role. Until then, the safe read is caution on the foot and a clear eye on Friday.

Limited is better than DNP. It is not a green light. Check Friday before you trust the foot.
