Collins Hamstring Puts Week 2 Status in Jeopardy
By Smacktok
•

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins injured his hamstring during Wednesday's practice and was listed as limited, with ESPN's Adam Schefter reporting that doctors do not believe the issue is serious but that Collins' status for Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals is still in jeopardy. NBC Sports and Sporting News both tracked the same board overnight: soft-tissue hit midweek, optimistic medical language, no Sunday green light yet.
Collins went for further evaluation after the session. Hamstring injuries can linger even when early tests look clean, and playing through one four days later is how small strains become multi-week absences. Thursday's injury report is the next public tell. A final Week 2 call may stretch to Friday or Saturday.
What it means for Houston's passing game
Collins had seven catches for 75 yards and a touchdown in Houston's Week 1 loss to Buffalo. Losing that top target against Joe Burrow and Cincinnati would force C.J. Stroud to lean harder on the next wave of receivers and tight end Dalton Schultz. Fantasy managers who locked Collins into Week 2 lineups should have a backup ready until he is cleared full practice.
The Texans have not stamped him out. Limited on Wednesday is progress compared with a DNP, but it is not clearance. Watch whether he ramps Thursday or lands on the report as limited again. Soft tissue midweek is the kind of board that flips late.
Bengals at 1 p.m. ET Sunday
Houston hosts Cincinnati on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 1 p.m. ET. A healthy Collins changes how the Texans can attack the Bengals secondary. A scratch leaves Stroud hunting the next reliable option on early downs and in the red zone.
The sourced stamp today is hamstring at Wednesday practice, limited, doctors not calling it serious, Week 2 status in jeopardy per Schefter. No invented MRI grade. No invented games missed. Just the midweek board fans need before Thursday practice lands.
Hamstring, limited, Sunday still cloudy. Watch Thursday practice snaps and any club update before you assume he is a lock.
Thursday morning is when fantasy boards refresh and when Houston fans refresh the injury page. Collins is the clearest name on that page until he practices fully again. Keep an eye on practice participation stamps and any Schefter or club follow-ups before you lock a Week 2 lineup that leans on him.
Top target status in doubt. Bengals week just got louder.
