Freddy Peralta pitched six scoreless innings and earned his first win with Tampa Bay as the Rays beat the Detroit Tigers 3-0 on Wednesday at Comerica Park, the Associated Press reported. Peralta (6-11) allowed two singles, struck out four, and walked none in his first win in five starts since the Mets traded him to Tampa Bay at the deadline.

The Rays scored twice in the second. Chandler Simpson led off with an infield single and scored on Jonny DeLuca's double. DeLuca moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on Cedric Mullins' two-out single. Liam Hicks added a sacrifice fly in the sixth for the 3-0 final, AP wrote.

How good was Freddy Peralta vs the Tigers?

Six innings, two hits, zero walks, four strikeouts. Kevin Kelly followed with two hitless innings. Tyler Wells finished the ninth for the save. The AL East-leading Rays improved to 79-54 and have won three of their last four. Detroit fell to 62-71 and has lost 10 of 12.

Peralta's first Rays win is the Stage-4 search: Freddy Peralta Rays, Rays vs Tigers score, Peralta shutout. It is also a deadline story that finally has a W attached after four prior starts without one in Tampa Bay colors.

What else defined Rays vs Tigers?

Mullins' RBI single was the contact that made the early lead stick. Simpson set the table. DeLuca drove the gap. Hicks' sac fly closed the margin before the bullpen locked it. For a first-place club, a day-game shutout on the road is the kind of quiet win that shows up in September standings math.

Elsewhere on the Wednesday MLB board, keep an eye on nightcaps. Tuesday's American League noise already included Kansas City's nine-game streak and Yordan Alvarez beating the Yankees. Wednesday afternoon belonged to Peralta and a 3-0 line in Detroit.
