Pete Crow-Armstrong Headlines MLB Award Finalists

Pete Crow-Armstrong is one step from NL MVP. The Cubs center fielder was named a finalist Monday night, along with Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski for the NL Cy Young, when MLB and the Baseball Writers' Association of America revealed the top three vote-getters for every major award. Winners are announced next week.

Keep in mind the ballots were cast before the playoffs started, per CBS Sports, so this is all about the regular season. That is great news for Crow-Armstrong, who had one of the wildest seasons in Cubs history.

Pete Crow-Armstrong Joins the 40-40 Club

Crow-Armstrong is expected to win NL MVP after batting .280 with 45 home runs and 41 stolen bases, per the AP, becoming the seventh member of the 40-40 club. He also won a Gold Glove in center. His competition is Brewers second baseman Brice Turang and four-time MVP Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers.

Over in the AL, Houston slugger Yordan Alvarez is the favorite, with Tampa Bay third baseman Junior Caminero and Kansas City shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. as the other finalists.

Misiorowski and the Brewers Load Up

The World Series champion Brewers have four finalists. Misiorowski is the heavy favorite for the NL Cy Young after going 16-5 with a 1.80 ERA, a 0.80 WHIP and 252 strikeouts, and he led the majors in ERA, WHIP and strikeouts, per CBS Sports. Chris Sale (14-9, 2.16 ERA) and Cristopher Sanchez (18-7, 2.91 ERA, 207 innings) are the other two. Yahoo Sports noted his .157 opponent batting average is the best of all time, which is just silly for a guy who was moved to the bullpen late in 2025.

Turang is up for MVP, closer Trevor Megill is a finalist for the brand-new NL Relief Pitcher of the Year award, and Pat Murphy could become the first manager to win three straight Manager of the Year awards.

The Rest of the Field

  • AL Cy Young: Dylan Cease, Parker Messick, Cam Schlittler

  • Rookie of the Year: Messick, Kevin McGonigle and Payton Tolle in the AL; Carson Benge, Sal Stewart and JJ Wetherholt in the NL

  • Relief Pitcher of the Year: Bryan Baker, Cade Smith, Louis Varland (AL); Megill, Jhoan Duran, Mason Miller (NL)

Messick's top-three Cy Young finish as a rookie also earns Cleveland an extra pick after the first round of the 2027 draft. Cubs fans, enjoy this week. A 40-40 center fielder with a Gold Glove does not come around often, and PCA might be bringing home the hardware to prove it.
