Darnold Expected to Practice Wednesday

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold is expected to practice in some capacity Wednesday after starting to move around "a lot better" last week, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler in a Week 3 notebook with Dan Graziano, following a Sept. 9 glute injury that originally had the club bracing for roughly a four-week absence. Week 3 still is not a slam dunk. The positive end of the rehab board is real, and so is the reminder that Drew Lock has been developing while Darnold sat.
Seattle hoped Darnold could beat the four-week window. Fowler's reporting says the movement bump last week set up a limited or partial Wednesday look. That is progress language, not a cleared-for-Sunday stamp. Anyone Fowler asked about Darnold also brought up Lock unprompted, and that was before Lock's clean outing in Arizona (16-of-26, 235 yards, three touchdowns).
People inside the building have framed Lock as smart, experienced in the system, and confident with pre-snap moving parts plus a deep ball. That is the backup turning starter noise that always shows up when the QB1 is on a soft timeline. Soft fantasy note only: if you are choosing between Lock and a returning Darnold for Week 3, wait for the Wednesday and Thursday practice reports before you lock a lineup. Do not invent a full-go stamp from "practice in some capacity" alone.
The Seahawks already lived through the early September scare. A glute that once sounded like a month can shrink when the player starts moving clean. It can also stretch if Wednesday's work is light and the medical staff wants another week of runway. Both paths are still live.
Seattle fans want the starter back without rushing a soft-tissue board into a reckless Sunday. Lock just bought the room credibility with the Arizona tape. That is healthy tension, not panic.
Wednesday's practice is the next real checkpoint. Treat it as information, not a coronation. A limited individual period is not the same as team reps, and team reps are not the same as a cleared Week 3 start. Seattle will tell you with the participation report more than with optimistic quotes.
The NFC West does not wait for soft-tissue calendars. If Darnold is only partial, Lock keeps the offense on the schedule that already worked in Arizona. If Darnold ramps clean, the room suddenly has a real decision instead of a default.
QB board
Darnold: glute (Sep 9). Moving better. Expected to practice some Wednesday. Week 3 not locked.
Lock: clean Arizona tape, system savvy, still in the Week 3 conversation.
