Tua Full Practice Ahead of Packers TNF

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was a full participant in Tuesday's practice, the first full listing since he suffered an oblique injury in Week 1, as Atlanta prepares for Thursday Night Football at the Green Bay Packers. The team's official injury report from Tori McElhaney also showed Michael Penix Jr. (knee) as a full participant, with Tagovailoa still listed as Penix's backup on the Week 3 depth chart. Full practice is not a starter flip. It is the first clean medical green light on Tua's oblique since the early-season setback.

That matters on a short week. Atlanta is 0-2, already put A.J. Terrell on injured reserve, and needs every healthy body it can find in Lambeau. Penix owns the Week 3 starter job from the prior board. Tagovailoa's full day puts him back in the emergency and package conversation instead of the day-to-day rehab pile. Jawaan Taylor (rib), Brandon Dorlus (thumb), and Brian Robinson Jr. (ankle) also practiced fully, which softens the offensive line and skill-depth panic heading into Packers week.

Soft fantasy note only: keep Penix as the Atlanta QB1 for TNF until a coach says otherwise. Treat Tua as a practice-report story and a depth-chart insurance policy, not a surprise start announcement. Oblique full participation is progress. It is not a midweek quarterback change without a presser stamp.

Fans who watched Tagovailoa's limited stretch know how careful Atlanta has been with the oblique. Listing him full on Tuesday is the staff saying the throw volume looked normal enough for a game week. Sampson Ebukam did not participate. Everyone else on the published board was either full or already accounted for on IR. That is a cleaner practice report than Atlanta has posted since Week 1.

The Terrell IR news earlier Tuesday and the Tua full stamp later in the afternoon tell two different stories about the same roster. One star is gone for a month. One quarterback is finally throwing with a full label again. Keep those plots separate. Penix still runs the offense Thursday unless a later update says otherwise.

Watch Wednesday's follow-up and the final Thursday designations. If Tagovailoa stays full and active, the Falcons finally have a healthy backup arm behind Penix in a building that cannot afford another empty jersey on offense.

Practice board

Tua full for the first time since the Week 1 oblique. Penix still the starter on the depth chart.

Taylor, Dorlus, and Robinson also full. Short week to Green Bay.

Bank the medical progress. Do not invent a starter switch until Atlanta says it out loud.
