Mark Scheifele scored and added an assist as the Winnipeg Jets rolled past the Vancouver Canucks 6-2 on Thursday at Canada Life Centre. Dawson Mercer also had a goal and an assist, and Stuart Skinner stopped 24 shots as Winnipeg (6-8-3) won its second straight after a nine-game skid.

Alex Iafallo, Cole Koepke, Neal Pionk, and Mario Ferraro also scored for the Jets. Brock Boeser and Liam Ohgren answered for Vancouver (3-14-1), which has now lost four straight and 14 of its last 15.

Two Goals in 14 Seconds

Winnipeg punched first and never looked back. Iafallo tipped Haydn Fleury's point shot for a power-play goal at 3:49 of the first, and Koepke buried a wrist shot from outside the right circle just 14 seconds later for a 2-0 lead. Ohgren cut it to 2-1 at 6:51, but Mercer restored the two-goal cushion at 14:04 on a Cole Perfetti feed for his first goal as a Jet.

Mercer arrived from New Jersey on Oct. 23 in the Connor Hellebuyck deal. Getting the first one at home in a win mattered. Coach Scott Arniel liked the compete, the penalty-kill work, and the way Mercer is starting to look like he belongs.

Scheifele Flick Makes It Five

Pionk made it 4-1 at 6:52 of the second, jumping on the rebound of a Kyle Connor backhand. Scheifele pushed it to 5-1 at 11:36 with a one-handed flick over Leevi Merilainen's pad off another Connor rebound. Viggo Bjorck, the No. 8 pick in the 2026 Draft, picked up his first NHL point on the Scheifele goal in his 17th career game.

Ferraro made it 6-1 in the third before Boeser answered late for the 6-2 final. Merilainen finished with 23 saves. Winnipeg was coming off the latest four-goal comeback in NHL history Tuesday in Montreal, and Arniel wanted a clean home start instead of a flat hangover. He got it.

Building Off Montreal Madness

Two straight wins do not erase a nine-game skid, but the way Winnipeg built the lead mattered. All lines and the blue line were ready, Vancouver spent the night on its heels, and Canada Life Centre got the version of Jets hockey that looked simple and heavy.

Vancouver coach Manny Malhotra pointed to effort and compete in puck battles. The Canucks put themselves behind early with a soft hooking penalty and never found the pushback a 6-2 road night demands.

Smacktok pick lean: Lean higher on Scheifele's points. A goal and an assist in a six-goal home night is the usage that shows up when Winnipeg's top line is driving and Connor is creating rebounds around the crease.

Six goals, two straight, and a building that finally got to exhale. That is a Jets night worth taking with you.
