Taylor Fritz has the Friday he needed. After beating Arthur Fils 6-3, 6-4 on Thursday for his 100th ATP Masters 1000 win, the 11th seed draws Carlos Alcaraz in the Rolex Paris Masters quarterfinals on Court Central, not before 7 p.m. Paris time.

Alcaraz advanced when Matteo Berrettini withdrew before their Round of 16 match, after the second seed had beaten Alex Michelsen 7-6 (4), 6-3. The Lexus ATP Head2Head stands 6-1 for Alcaraz, including 3-1 on indoor hard. Their last meeting was a Laver Cup win for Alcaraz in September. Fritz is chasing Turin. Alcaraz is already locked.

Fritz's Clean Path Into the Quarters

Fritz never faced a break point against Fils. He won 41 of 51 service points, hit 14 aces, and closed on Court Central in 1 hour and 11 minutes. Earlier he beat Benjamin Bonzi and Alex Molcan in three-setters. The American sits on about 3,050 Race points. A semifinal would pass Rafael Jodar (3,234). A final would pass Frances Tiafoe (3,390).

That is why this quarterfinal is not a free hit. Fritz said after Fils that he knew he probably had to go through Alcaraz if he wanted a real Turin shot. Thursday's serve-and-return clinic was the warm-up. Friday is the test.

Alcaraz's Indoor Form, Quiet Draw Day

Alcaraz is 7-0 on indoor hard in 2026 and 39-5 overall this season, with titles in Melbourne, Doha, Tokyo, and Vienna. The Berrettini walkover means he has played only one match this week. Fritz has three. Fresh legs versus match sharpness is the subplot under the Head2Head gap.

The Spaniard has already locked his Nitto ATP Finals place and is playing for the Paris title and seeding. Fritz is playing for the last Race spots. Those are two different pressures on the same Court Central night session.

Friday Night Session Stack

The day session opens at 2 p.m. with Ben Shelton against Tommy Paul, then Luca Van Assche against Rinky Hijikata. Fritz-Alcaraz is not before 7 p.m. Casper Ruud against Nuno Borges follows not before 8:30 p.m. An all-American quarterfinal in the afternoon and an American against the world No. 2 at night is the kind of Paris Friday the tournament wanted.

Smacktok pick lean: Lean higher on Fritz first-serve points won. He faced zero break points against Fils, won 41 of 51 service points, and has to hold serve early if the 6-1 Head2Head is going to budge.

A 100th Masters win on Thursday. Alcaraz under the lights on Friday. That is the Paris week Fritz has been building toward.
