Job Description:

Smacktok is revolutionizing the Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) landscape with a social-first mobile app for iOS and Android. We're building a vibrant community where users can compete, collaborate, and cash in on real-time fantasy action. Backed by passionate founders and a growing user base, we're at an exciting inflection point—scaling our engineering team and processes to deliver faster, more reliable features that keep players hooked. With a lean team of 4 talented engineers and a founding CTO, we're ready to level up our structure and ship like a well-oiled machine.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Grow the Team:

    • Mentor and manage our 4 engineers, fostering a collaborative culture of excellence. Collaborate closely with the CTO to align engineering efforts with product vision and business goals. Play a key role in future hiring to scale the team thoughtfully.

  • Drive Process Excellence:

    • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines tailored to our iOS and Android stack, ensuring seamless builds, automated testing, and rapid deployments. Establish standardized code review processes to maintain high-quality, maintainable code.

  • Optimize Shipping and Delivery:

    • Oversee the full software development lifecycle, from ideation to production releases. Identify bottlenecks in our current workflows and introduce agile methodologies, tools, and metrics to accelerate feature delivery without sacrificing reliability.

  • Technical Strategy and Innovation:

    • Champion best practices in mobile development (Swift/Objective-C for iOS, Kotlin/Java for Android) and integrate emerging technologies to enhance user engagement in our social DFS features. Ensure our architecture supports real-time data, scalability, and security for fantasy sports transactions.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Partner with product, design, and data teams to prioritize roadmaps, resolve technical challenges, and deliver user-centric features like live leaderboards, social sharing, and in-app contests.

  • Performance and Reliability:

    • Monitor system health, uptime, and performance metrics. Lead root-cause analysis for issues and implement proactive measures to keep our app running smoothly during peak DFS seasons.ith creators, sports influencers, and fan communities.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 8+ years in software engineering, with at least 4 years in mobile development (iOS and/or Android). Proven track record as an Engineering Manager or Director, ideally in a fast-paced startup or gaming/social app environment.

  • Technical Depth: Strong expertise in mobile ecosystems, including app architecture, APIs, and third-party integrations (e.g., payment gateways for DFS). Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Fastlane, GitHub Actions), version control (Git), and agile frameworks.

  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to build and lead small teams, implement engineering processes from scratch, and drive cultural change. Excellent communicator who can translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

  • Mindset: Passion for social gaming or sports tech. You're proactive, data-driven, and excited about the chaos of a growing startup—bonus points if you've shipped apps that handle high-stakes, real-time user interactions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the DFS, gaming, or social media space.

  • Familiarity with cloud services (GCP), containerization (Docker), or monitoring tools (Sentry, Firebase).

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).

Perks & Benefits:

  • Competitive Compensation: Base salary $150K–$220K (depending on experience), plus equity in a high-growth startup.

  • Benefits: Comprehensive health/dental/vision, PTO, remote work flexibility, and professional development stipend.
